Established in 1996, Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) is a leading autonomous and self-financed engineering institute located in the industrial city of Haldia, West Bengal. As the first private affiliated engineering college in the state, HIT has consistently been a pioneer in technical education. The institute is an initiative of the Indian Centre for Advancement of Research and Education (ICARE), Haldia. It is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and holds a prestigious Grade ‘A’ accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Furthermore, many of its B.Tech programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The campus is spread over 37 acres and features modern infrastructure, including state-of-the-art laboratories, a central library, and excellent hostel facilities. Admission Process

For Undergraduate (UG) Programs (B.Tech):

Step 1: Candidates must appear for the WBJEE or JEE Main entrance examination.
Step 2: A valid rank is required to be eligible for the counseling process.
Step 3: Participate in the centralized counseling conducted by the WBJEE Board.
Step 4: Select Haldia Institute of Technology and the desired course during the choice filling.
Step 5: Upon seat allotment, pay the admission fees and submit the required documents for verification to secure the admission.

For Postgraduate (PG) Programs (M.Tech, MBA, MCA):

Step 1: Candidates must have a valid graduation degree and a score in the required entrance exam (e.g., GATE/WBUT PGET for M.Tech, JEMAT/MAT for MBA, WB JECA for MCA).
Step 2: Fill out the online application form on the institute’s official website.
Step 3: The institute will conduct a selection process, which may include group discussions and/or personal interviews for some courses like MCA.
Step 4: A merit list will be released based on the entrance exam score and performance in the interview.
Step 5: Pay the fees and complete the document verification to finalize admission.
